UV fluorescent light

This is what our member has to say: I would put some screen over the end of that fixture so the anole can't get against the bulb and get burned!...

Re: UV fluorescent light

We used a chicken wire mesh in ours so they can get close but not burnt, however ours is brighter we were recommened due to the size to put a stonger bulb in by 2 seperate shops. This is due to the height of the viv being so high.

Re: UV fluorescent light

Chicken wire is not only dangerous for injuries on the thin wire, but the holes are generally too large for anoles. The exposed light definitely needs a guard of some kind though...

I had a feeling the heat would entice the anoles to the right spot though. Honestly though - shining the light from overheard is less harsh on the anoles eyes. The UVB is coming from the side which can cause eye problems. If you suspend all of your lights you would be providing a more natural and safer lighting system...
