10inch. from light. What?

I feel that I'm fairly on the ball about my anoles and long tails but I read in another thread that Rich said something about "are they 10 inches from their light" I do not understand. The plants in my inclosure go all the way up the back wall. All my Lizards like to hanging out at the top this makes them only about a inch and a half away from their uv light. Is there a problem?

With flourescent lights the UVB drops off dramatically the farther you get fromnthe light. 10 inches away is about the maximum distance to get any useable light from a flourescent tube. 2 inches from a flourescent tube is not a problem.
Now that close to a mercury vapor bulb is dangerous.

Also bear in mind that fluorescent UVB lights only last about 6 months or so, so if the bulbs are older than that you'll need to replace them.
