I Found My Froggie Connection!
Apparently there was a Herpetologist named Schlegel (my maiden name) back in the early 1800s who discovered/named/cataloged a bunch of frogs in Indonesia and Japan. It must have skipped a few generations.
![]() Rana erythraea - Red Eared Greenback Frog (Schlegel, 1837) ![]() Rhacophorus reinwardtii (Schlegel, 1840) Java Flying frog ![]() ![]() Rhacophorus schlegelii - Schlegel's Green Tree Frog ![]() Now I can say I have no excuse, its in my blood.

Re: I Found My Froggie Connection!
Well there you go. You could be related back somewhere along the line.

Re: I Found My Froggie Connection!
I would do some research and try to find out if you're related somehow.
That's interesting information.

Re: I Found My Froggie Connection!
See, now you have an excuse!
Though from the title of the thread I got this mental image of a shady guy in a trenchcoat in a dark alley going "Pssssst! Hey lady! Want to buy a frog?" ![]() And that flying frog looks like something out of a 60's blacklight poster!

That Java Flying Frog is beautiful!
It would be cool if you're related to the herpetologist. ![]()

Re: I Found My Froggie Connection!
I totally want to build a setup for a java frog, but I highly doubt anyone is breeding in captivity and I'm very much against WC.
I'll keep dreaming. I did a family tree back in high school. I don't remember any herpetologists, but I did have a ton of family in Germany, so it could be a distant distant relative.
