Follow-up to 'I'm Astonished'

Subsequent to my having caught the AFTs in the act last night, several questions have come to mind:

1.) how many days until eggs might be laid?
2.) how often should I check for them? In other words, for how long can they sit unincubated before they dry up? Of course I'll incubate them ASAP, but how much of a window do I have? My friend who had them before said that they were always laid in the cool hide, which makes sense because the female (Mocha) really likes to hang out there. The temp around the cool hide is about 80 (it's on the cooler end of the enclosure's temperature gradiation), but the hide sits above the Under Tank Heater, so the interior of the hide is probably closer to 85. In any event, she's quite comfortable there.
3.) What kind of incubator should I buy?
4.) How can I safely transfer the eggs into the incubator?
5.) To what temp should I set the incubator, and what other conditions does it need (moisture, location, nourishment, etc.)
6.) Will the female eat more during her pregnancy, or will she just let the fat reserve dwindle and make up for it afterwards?
7.) How big will they be when they hatch, and what should I do with them? Should they live with their parents in the 20L, or be temporarily housed in a 10g until they outgrow it?

I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way, but that's all I can think of now.

Thanks you guys SOOOOO much for your help. Quite obviously, I'm really excited about this!!! Do not doubt for an instant that you'll have pics of the eggs and babies as soon as they show up!!!

Jennifer

p.s. I'm pleased to be back in the community. My surgeries went well, and I'm getting stronger every day, with overall reduced pain level vis-a-vis prior to the surgery. So, the Lord is so good to me. (or the Universe, per one's theology or lack thereof. Would reptile religion be called 'reptigion'?

Re: F/u to 'I'm Astonished'

The first thing I want to suggest is that you tell us what F/u means. lmao I opened this thread expecting to close it because I had COMPLETELY misinterpreted what those letters meant. lol

I would suggest reading the "Breeding leopard geckos" section. The incubation and egg removal is the same for the fat tails.

Re: Follow-up to 'I'm Astonished'

Wow! You know, I've been so corrupted by the Fire and Emergency Services that I usually pick up on the profane things. I totally followed what he meant by the f/u... I guess I'm not used to people using the abbreviations and what not. The people I'm around (and who am I kidding, me as well) aren't usually pg friendly. that may be why I never picked up on Whites Tree Frog meaning anything other that White's Tree Frog. At least not here...

Re: Follow-up to 'I'm Astonished'

Thanks for correcting the title. I am SOOO sorry!!!! The other meaning never even occurred to me. It's an abbreviation I use frequently. I would never insult anyone here like that (not that I said here - I can't deny having leveled such an insult to acquaintances in the past, but really not very often).

I'll read the sheet you recommended, the 'f/u' with other questions that might arise.

Thanks again for fixing it, Lacey.
